The ceremony is in Iglesia de la Merced? Can you get married there?
I always imagined getting married in another church: the Parroquía de la Consolación. As everyone says: it’s majestic, beautiful, charming, a spectacular place to get married! But as time went by and perhaps from a more mature perspective (and I’m sure the fact that I’m a Special Education teacher has something to do with it), I started to fall under the spell of Iglesia de la Merced: a more simple, humble church where nobody chooses to get marriedanymore but which for me, and I’m sure for many other people, is also beautiful, unique and special.
This church also has a special significance for Carlos’ mother; in her childhood she went to mass with her aunts when she came to visit her grandparents in Azuaga. Among the many fond memories she has of this church she remembers talking to the nuns on the terrace, as it also used to be a convent.
The church is right beside Azuaga’s Town Hall (Ayuntamiento), which is why we have marked this location on Google Maps.
